About Molon Motor & Coil Corporation
Moloney Heritage
Over 90 years of manufacturing innovation, American engineering integrity, and gearmotor leadership.
A Legacy of Manufacturing Excellence
For international buyers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), choosing a motor supplier is a critical strategic decision. At Molon Motor & Coil Corporation, our foundation rests upon over nine decades of family-owned manufacturing leadership, continuous technological innovation, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
Molon remains privately owned and operated under the leadership of Earle F. Moloney, Chairman of the Board and President. The core philosophy driving our enterprise is simple yet profound: investing in long-term automation, capitalizing on emerging electrical technology, and building fractional horsepower (FHP) motors and gearmotors specifically custom-engineered for high-reliability commercial, industrial, and medical applications.
The Moloney family’s industrial legacy began in 1931 when Raymond T. Moloney founded Bally Manufacturing Corporation. Under Moloney leadership, Bally grew to become the world’s foremost producer of coin-operated electromechanical devices, pioneering groundbreaking innovations such as the iconic "Bally Hoo" game and the world's first electronic slot machine—an advancement that transformed global gaming electronics.
This spirit of pioneering invention extended across multiple industrial sectors throughout the 20th century:
Raymond T. Moloney established Bally Manufacturing, establishing early benchmarks in complex coin-operated mechanisms, stepping switches, and durable drive assemblies.
Under E. F. Moloney Sr. and R. T. Moloney Sr., sister companies produced the first remote-controlled televisions (Lion Manufacturing) and freshly brewed coffee vending units (Bally Vending). Meanwhile, Comar Electric Company manufactured precision relays qualified by the U.S. Signal Corps for critical defense and NASA Apollo space missions.
Earle F. Moloney Sr. established Molon Motor & Coil Corporation to focus exclusively on custom-engineered AC, DC, and custom winding fractional horsepower motors and gearmotors for medium to high-volume OEM programs.
Earle F. Moloney founded Moloney Coachbuilders, becoming synonymous with modern long-wheelbase luxury vehicle design and setting safety standards adopted across the automotive conversion industry.
Operating state-of-the-art facilities in Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Molon delivers ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016 certified motor drives to top-tier global equipment manufacturers.
For international procurement leaders, supply chain resilience and verified product quality are paramount. Unlike component assemblers that rely on third-party off-the-shelf catalog motors, Molon controls the entire engineering and manufacturing process in-house from our facilities in Illinois, USA.
From initial copper coil winding and lamination stamping to custom gear train hobbing, heat treatment, and end-of-line testing, every process is conducted under strict quality protocols. This ensures unit-to-unit consistency across production runs of tens of thousands of units.
We do not force your design into a standard catalog motor compromise. Our engineering team reviews load cycles, overhung shaft loads, operating temperature envelopes, audible noise requirements, and electrical duty parameters to engineer custom gearmotors built specifically for your machine's exact lifetime targets.
For medical devices, laboratory automation, and high-reliability commercial appliances, Molon maintains ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems. Full traceability, PPAP documentation, and UL component recognition give overseas buyers total compliance assurance.
Our dedicated engineering teams assist procurement officers and design managers at every phase—from preliminary load torque calculations to global logistics execution.
Tailored 12V–240V AC/DC coil profiles designed for maximum torque output, thermal safety margins, and energy efficiency.
High-efficiency spur, planetary, and right-angle gearboxes constructed for long operational life and low acoustic noise.
Comprehensive international shipping support, export packaging compliance, and transparent lead time management for global buyers.
